H&I stands for Hospitals and Institutions. H&I provides special meetings or introductory meetings which are held within a facility in which a regular NA meeting cannot be held or where the facility’s restrictions make it impossible for a regular group to operate freely. Examples of such facilities might be jails, prisons, or rehabilitation facilities, etc.

Although Narcotics Anonymous remains unaffiliated with any particular facility, H&I meetings can carry the NA message of recovery to addicts who do not have full access to regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings
